Thankfully, parts of the yoga industry are actively working to pivot away from exclusionary yoga business models to inclusion and access for all, however, if our goal is to create impactful and lasting change, we must be willing to get messy, while being creative. We need to move beyond relying on viral hashtags and flashy rainbow-colored DEI swag, and start leading more courageous conversations about the barriers in our communities that make yoga exclusionary.

Writer, speaker, and DEI facilitator, Colice Sanders is an Iowa native who is passionate about learning, teaching, Beyoncé, and anything purple. For over 15 years Colice has facilitated diversity and inclusion workshops, and employee training sessions using her personal experiences combined with her interactive, humorous, and energetic presentation style. She is a former TRIO college advisor, and college instructor who taught Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies and Oral Communication for ten years. Colice believes we can have impactful conversations about inclusion when we recognize each other’s humanity.
